The human rights in the US seem to be just a farce but you can be sure that the officials will state otherwise.

http://ccrjustice.org/newsroom/press-releases/judges-dismiss-suit-seeking-damages-guantanamo-torture

add to this the surveillance, hidden government controlled gang stalking, electronic harassment and Mind Control operations, then you can say the human rights seem to be more a American advertising gag than reality. But it is not only in the US like this. US stupidities get globalised, that is one reason why much of the chit mentioned above you have at many places now.

Why Ron Paul

Freedom needs eternal vigilance. Freedom needs protection.

When a long time forces rule which not really support freedom they will remove it piece for piece often in a way many Americans are not even aware of. And this may actually be happening in America as well as for instance in Germany.

Look at that

http://www.newstarget.com/022465.html

....Harman's bill is called the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act. When HR 1955 becomes law, it will create a commission tasked with identifying extremist people, groups, and ideas....

....The "Extremist Beliefs Commission" is the mechanism for identifying Americans who pose "a threat to domestic security" and a threat of "homegrown terrorism" that "cannot be easily prevented through traditional federal intelligence or law enforcement efforts"....

The term extremism and trials to go against it can also be used as a means to reduce opposition to the agendas of the two leading parties by trying to label such people extremist if it is possible. It is so another political tool of suppression, because what democrats and republicans label extremist is not always extremist. It is just extremist in their view.
It is also a tool to suppress the views of minorities whose voices are not easily heard

Some years ago I read a report in a Asian country that most universities in America would be under the control of the democrats
How far this control goes I do not know but it may go that far that they also service them so that scientific reports are not really free they may be in favor of the controlling.
That may mean that when specialists are added to such committees they may be not unbiased.

Another example how the democrats deal with partners you find on the website of the greens.

To protect freedoms people should get elected who have been serious about this topic.

Candidates who speak about it but when you look up their actions you see they are not in favor of freedom will rather endanger it than support. The usual mainstream candidates are not really supporting freedom.

Ron Paul is serious about freedom. You can and should check this out.

Freedom is important. It is easier to protect it than to win it or win it back.

Once you have lost it you are delivered more and more to the arbitrariness of the ruling, which use this to their advantage against you.

How american government hinders and may destroy small opposition papers and worses the possibilities of the poorer people in general. Such things seem to be American Standard the last time.

http://www.infoshop.org/inews/article.php?story=2008postal-rates
I read that the current agenda of president Bush is very unpopular and that the concervatives could not win the election with continuing it. They would need a new one. Well, Ron Paul offers one. One which could increase the chances of the conservatives in the election.
Could this be a reason to consider it more closely? You would have to change, but America would probably not be the first country which was imperialistic for a while and peaceful then.

Ron Paul is the only candidate with some chance left who will not continue American imperialism.
The American people so decide also with their vote on who are the candidates of their parties already if America will be a peaceful member of the world community or continues to invade countries.
With this vote the people of America decide if they want to be a friend or an enemy of at least parts of the world. And the people around the word will know soon how the majority of the American people want their government to act.
