The following is taken from the website second mentioned
--------------------------------------------
When it comes to health freedom, this is the FDA's end game.
A new FDA "guidance" document, published on the FDA's website, reveals plans to reclassify virtually all vitamins, supplements, herbs and even vegetable juices as FDA-regulated drugs. Massage oils and massage rocks will be classified as "medical devices" and require FDA approval.
The document is called Docket No. 2006D-0480. Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration.
--------------------------------------------
That is capitalism. All aspects of life will become an aspect of making money.
At the same time the freedom is taken away from the people, because this would hinder moneymaking and moneymakers have governments already in a tight grip or the people or organisations of their choice are brought in the desired positions.
I would say capitalism leads to madness!
I would say capitalism leads to slavery!
But in this area doctors belong to the root of the problem, it is again about money. They are elitist, have studied long and want a high income and look how and where they can get it. Finally it leads to cooperating with drug industry because the money is there. Natural medicine is rather a danger for moneymaking of doctors because this can also be used by practioners who have less education and to recommend and use the practice of this won't bring them the financial support they can have from the drug industry when they use their products.
The structures which support this must be changed.
I assume their is a lot worth to discuss about in this area.
To look further for the root of the upcoming danger of unfreedom I would just dissolve the FDA and create a independant organisation which is not allowed to take anything from drug industie, and where the employees from now must not have any chance. But this is not enough.
I would nationalize the complete health sector and change it to public trusts or other foundations where the first goal is not making money and the motivation to make it is also absent because this aspect is excluded in the system. No shareholders, if you support the system financially you only can get a fixed rate of interest for instance. But there are certainly other ideas in this area.
To start a public discussion about this I think is interesting now, but don't forget to beat the current danger now.

This is the freedom America wants to bring about the world
From an newspaper article
...students at high schools across the country have been punished, expelled or arrested for writing objectionable poetry and rap songs, and taking a stand against the Iraq war.

This is the freedom available in America
You have to keep your mouth shut already as a student. Otherwise there is no career.
The corrupt are promoted and the upright expelled or arrested already in school.
Then you know what sort of people you often face nowadays in higher positions in America.
That are people parents would rather keep their children away from.
But I appreciate it really that this article is openly available to the public.

Could this be an alternative, North Korea
Instead of running in the arms of America trying to build up an military alliance of smaller countries with the aim to beat the threat to the national security the US poses.
This means to build up a strong well equipped standing army ready to be deployed in every country of the alliance to make another Irak impossible.
This means to go for nuclear weapons which must be able to reach the US.
To such a threat President Bush uttered to Pakistan, 'We'll bomb you back to stone age!' you can answer then, 'You 'll be there too afterwards'.
That is a way to get national security against and independence from the US.
The road to dependency is laid out with sweeties by those who want it, the road to freedom with barbwire.
But freedom is sweet and dependency is, once you are there, surrounded by barbwire and feels like this.

War in Iraq
The Democrats have put through a plan to withdrew the troops from Iraq. President Bush argues for instance that an early withdraw of the troops could leave the country in riot.
Will the Democrats fall to attacks of republicans, how so often?
Could the following be or contribute to an alternative. The US troops may be repaced by UN troops. The cost of such an military action might be paid by Iraqi oil. If the Iraqis agree to this (after discussion and polls) the whole political system could be reviewed undue American influence removed and a new balance to settle the unrest in the country could be searched for. To go for this option brings eventually the possibility to remove US troops more quickly from Iraq, if UN troops are available in time. To contribute to such troops is a task of countries who oppose the invasion anyway.
