I think a group of respected people out of Syria which are accepted by the government and the rebels could start working on a political solution of the problems which were the base of the escalation.
People from Syria are much closer to everything. They understand the people, the society and the conflict better than foreigners. Kofi Ahnan could support that such happens and overlook it.
